- Turin. Around 20 minutes from Turin city centre. Closer than Milan for Juventus, the automotive industry, Sestriere and the Milky Way resorts.

Fashion Weeks, the Lakes and Arrival
Milan's calendar shapes how the route is flown. During the fashion weeks and Design Week, business aviation traffic into Linate peaks, parking fills, and some aircraft have to drop passengers and reposition until the return. We plan for that from the start, and book early for those dates.
For Lake Como, the helicopter is the transfer. The road from Milan takes an hour or more and considerably longer on a summer Friday, while the helicopter takes around 25 minutes. We arrange it with the flight, so it is waiting when you land.
- Fashion weeks. Men's collections in January and June, and women's in February and September. Linate is at its busiest on those days.
- Design Week. Salone del Mobile in April brings the design and furniture industry to Milan, and some of the heaviest traffic of the year.
- Italian Grand Prix. Monza in early September. Both Linate and Malpensa are busy across the race weekend.
- Border control. Italy is in the Schengen Area, so UK passengers pass through passport control on arrival, including a one-time biometric registration under the EU Entry/Exit System. ETIAS, the EU's pre-travel authorisation, is due to start in the final quarter of 2026, and we confirm what applies when you book.
- Coming home. A General Aviation Report is filed with UK Border Force before the return flight into Farnborough.

For the western Italian Alps, including Courmayeur, Cervinia and Sestriere, Turin is usually the closest. Milan offers more capacity and longer runways, and serves the Dolomites and the resorts around Bormio and Livigno. Both are often faster than Geneva for the Italian side of the Alps.
Do I go through passport control flying privately to Italy?
