Our Carbon Responsible Programme
Private aviation done responsibly. Two independently verified programmes. Over 15 years of genuine commitment.
Why We Do This
A Moral Imperative, Not a Marketing Decision
Starflight Aviation recognises the environmental impact of business aviation and the necessity to address it honestly. Private jet and helicopter travel offers unparalleled convenience — but it also carries a carbon footprint that we believe responsible operators have an obligation to confront.
We have been doing so since 2009. Long before carbon credentials became a marketing tool in private aviation, Starflight partnered with Cool Earth to begin protecting rainforest at scale. That commitment has grown into a dual programme: Cool Earth's human-led conservation approach, and 4AIR's verifiable, accredited flight-specific carbon credits that meet the requirements of corporate ESG reporting.
Both programmes are available to every Starflight client on every flight. Neither is mandated — but both represent a meaningful choice, and we believe in making that choice easy.
Rainforest Protection
Cool Earth — A Partnership Since 2009
Starflight first partnered with the Cool Earth charity in 2009 — making us one of the earliest businesses in private aviation to make a formal, funded commitment to carbon reduction. Cool Earth's approach is unique: rather than purchasing carbon credits on an open market, they work directly with indigenous communities whose economic vulnerability makes their land susceptible to logging.
By supporting the communities living in and around rainforest — helping them establish sustainable agricultural production and viable supply chains — Cool Earth removes the economic incentive for deforestation at source. Starflight's funding has helped protect over 10,000 acres of Peruvian Amazon rainforest in partnership with the Asháninka people.
Since 2021, this partnership has expanded into the Planet Positive Programme, broadening Starflight's reach across the globe. In the 15 years since we began, Starflight and its clients have contributed over £700,000 to Cool Earth's projects — funding 56 locally-led conservation programmes across three of the world's most important rainforest systems.
The results are measurable. Forest loss rates in Cool Earth's Amazon partnerships are now 36% lower than in non-managed areas. In Papua New Guinea, the reduction stands at 56%. In the Congo, 31% lower than provincial rates. These are not projections — they are independently verified outcomes.
Starflight will continue to support Cool Earth's projects, which now protect over 290,000 hectares of tropical rainforest across the Amazon Basin, Congo Basin, and New Guinea — a combined carbon store of over 240 million tonnes.

Accredited Carbon Credits
4AIR — Verifiable Offsets for Every Flight
Cool Earth's work is vital and genuinely impactful — but Starflight recognises that a growing number of clients, particularly those in corporate and institutional settings, require a quantifiable, accredited carbon offset tied directly to their flight. ESG reporting frameworks increasingly demand exactly this: not a general contribution to an environmental cause, but a specific, verifiable credit for a specific journey.
Following our offset programme launch in 2021 with MyClimate, Starflight has now moved to a partnership with 4AIR — a specialist aviation carbon management company. Through 4AIR, clients can offset the carbon emissions of their specific flight, calculated by aircraft type and route, at competitive market rates.
The credits purchased through Starflight's 4AIR programme contribute to accredited, technology-driven renewable energy projects worldwide. One current example is the Usak Wind Farm in Turkey — 36 turbines generating 54 megawatts of clean electricity, contributing to the development of renewable energy infrastructure as a direct alternative to fossil fuels.
Carbon offsetting through 4AIR is not just an option for our clients — it is a financially viable and practically straightforward choice. When booking a charter with Starflight, simply indicate your wish to offset and we will incorporate the programme into your booking, providing accredited confirmation for your records.
Our Position
The Grass Will Be Greener
Ultimately, offering carbon programmes is not a business decision for us — it is a moral imperative. We believe that by taking proactive, measurable steps to address climate change, we can create a brighter and more sustainable future for private aviation. Starflight and our clients will continue to make a real difference, one flight at a time.
We are under no illusions about the scale of the challenge. Private aviation produces a meaningful carbon footprint, and no offset programme eliminates that reality entirely. What a well-designed programme can do — and what ours does — is direct real money to verified projects that measurably reduce carbon in the atmosphere, while the industry continues its transition towards cleaner propulsion technology.
Starflight's position is simple: do more than required, do it transparently, and make it easy for clients to participate. We have held that position since 2009 and we intend to hold it for the next 35 years.
