Farnborough to Geneva
The Route at a Glance
Geneva is two routes in one. For most of the year it is a business destination, serving private banking, commodity trading, the international organisations and the watch houses. From December to April it becomes the main gateway to the Alps, serving Chamonix, Verbier, Zermatt, Megève and the Three Valleys.
The flight from London Farnborough Airport is short and simple. The planning is in the timing: Geneva is one of the busiest business aviation airports in Europe on winter weekends, and securing the slot, the parking and the onward transfer together is what makes a ski Saturday work.
Flight Brief
- A private jet from London Farnborough to Geneva covers around 410 nautical miles and takes between 1 hour 25 minutes and 1 hour 40 minutes.
- Every business jet class can fly Farnborough to Geneva nonstop. Ski groups often need a larger aircraft than their numbers suggest, because equipment takes considerable hold space.
- Geneva Airport takes every size of aircraft and stays open in weather that closes the smaller mountain airports, which is why it is the default gateway for Alpine ski charters.
- Geneva serves Chamonix, Verbier, Zermatt, Megève, Courchevel and Méribel, with road transfers of around one to two and a half hours, or a helicopter transfer of 20 to 40 minutes.
- Winter Saturdays and Sundays are the busiest days at Geneva, and slots and aircraft parking are limited, so peak ski weekends should be booked well in advance.
Aircraft Selection
Which Jets Suit Farnborough to Geneva
Every jet class makes this route comfortably. For business travel the choice is about passengers and cabin. For ski trips it is about luggage: skis, boards and boot bags take far more hold space than people expect, and a party of six with full equipment often needs the aircraft a party of nine would use without it.
Both Ends of the Route
Where You Depart and Arrive
Most clients fly Farnborough to Geneva. In winter, Sion can save an hour on the road for Verbier and the Valais, and Chambéry does the same for the Three Valleys. Both are more weather-sensitive, so we treat them as the first choice with Geneva agreed as the fallback.
London
- London Farnborough. Our home since 1990. Business aviation only, with passport and customs handled in the terminal and no airline queues. Around an hour from central London by road, or fifteen minutes by helicopter from Battersea.
- London Luton. Convenient for north London and Hertfordshire.
- London Biggin Hill. The closest business aviation airport to the City and Canary Wharf.
Geneva & the Alps
- Geneva. A full-length runway that takes any aircraft, a dedicated business aviation terminal, and around ten minutes from the city centre. Serves both the Swiss and French Alps.
- Sion. The closest airport to Verbier and Crans-Montana, with transfers often under an hour. A short runway in a deep valley, so aircraft size and weather limits apply.
- Chambéry. Closer to Courchevel, Méribel, Val d'Isère and Tignes. Covered in detail on our Farnborough to Chambéry page.
- Helicopter transfers. From Geneva to Verbier, Courchevel, Méribel and other resorts in 20 to 40 minutes, weather permitting, with the road transfer held in reserve.
Operational Detail
Ski Season, Slots and Arrival
In winter, Geneva runs to the rhythm of the chalet week. Most rentals change over on Saturday, so Saturdays and Sundays bring the heaviest business aviation traffic of the year, and arrival slots and aircraft parking are limited. Some aircraft have to drop their passengers and reposition until the return. We plan for that when we book, not when we land.
The rest of the year Geneva is a business airport first, and a quiet one by comparison. Same-day returns for meetings are routine, with the aircraft waiting on the ramp.
- Peak weeks. Christmas, New Year and the February half term see both aircraft and slots sell out early. Several weeks ahead is sensible for those dates.
- Transfers. We book the road or helicopter transfer with the flight. Helicopters depend on mountain weather, so a car is always held as the backup.
- Winter weather. Geneva stays open when the mountain airports close. De-icing on the return can add time on a cold morning, and we build that into the schedule.
- Border control. Switzerland is in the Schengen Area, so UK passengers pass through passport control on arrival, including a one-time biometric registration under the EU Entry/Exit System. ETIAS, the EU's pre-travel authorisation, is due to start in the final quarter of 2026, and we confirm what applies when you book.
- Coming home. A General Aviation Report is filed with UK Border Force before the return flight into Farnborough.
Cost Guide
What Farnborough to Geneva Costs
The price is for the whole aircraft, not per seat. The figures below are guide ranges for a one-way flight. Every quote we send shows the total cost of the trip, including fees, any positioning and ground or helicopter transfers where you need them.
Returns and empty legs. For a same-day business trip the aircraft waits, so the return costs little more than the one-way. For a ski week it usually flies home empty and comes back for you. Winter weekends also produce empty legs in both directions as aircraft reposition around the chalet changeovers.
Why Starflight Aviation
Resort First, Airport Second
Tell us the resort rather than the airport. We work backwards from the chalet to the right airport, the right aircraft for your luggage, and the transfer, then agree a fallback before you fly so a change in the weather is an inconvenience rather than a crisis.
For business travellers, Geneva is simpler: a short flight from our home airport, the aircraft on the ramp when the meeting ends, and home the same evening.
Based at London Farnborough Airport since 1990. The departure end of this route is where we work every day.
A primary and an alternative airport agreed at booking, with the ground transfer from each already arranged.
Every operator is independently verified against recognised safety standards before the flight is confirmed.
Passenger details and itineraries handled under independently audited information security, which matters to our banking and legal clients.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about chartering a private jet between London and Geneva.
How much does a private jet from Farnborough to Geneva cost?
As a guide, a one-way flight typically costs £7,000 to £10,000 in a light jet, £10,000 to £14,000 in a midsize jet, and £14,000 to £20,000 in a super-midsize jet. The price is for the whole aircraft, not per seat. Winter weekends are the most expensive time to fly, and every quote we send shows the total cost of the trip, including transfers.
How long is a private flight from London to Geneva?
Between 1 hour 25 minutes and 1 hour 40 minutes from London Farnborough, depending on the aircraft and the wind. With no queues at Farnborough or the Geneva business aviation terminal, you can be in central Geneva around two hours after leaving the terminal in London.
Which ski resorts can I reach from Geneva?
Geneva serves the widest range of Alpine resorts of any airport, including Chamonix, Megève, Verbier, Zermatt, Crans-Montana, Courchevel, Méribel, Val d'Isère and Tignes. Road transfers run from around one hour for Chamonix to two and a half hours for the Three Valleys. A helicopter can cut that to 20 to 40 minutes, weather permitting.
Should I fly into Geneva, Sion or Chambéry for skiing?
Geneva for certainty and the widest choice of aircraft. Sion for Verbier and Crans-Montana, and Chambéry for Courchevel, Méribel and Val d'Isère, when you want the shortest transfer and the aircraft fits. The smaller airports are more affected by weather and have tighter slots, so we usually book them with Geneva agreed as the fallback.
Can I take a helicopter from Geneva to my resort?
Yes. Helicopter transfers from Geneva to Verbier, Courchevel, Méribel and other resorts take around 20 to 40 minutes, compared with several hours by road on a winter Saturday. They depend on mountain weather, so we always hold a road transfer in reserve. We arrange the jet and the helicopter as one booking.
How much ski equipment can I take on a private jet?
It depends on the aircraft's hold rather than the number of seats. Skis, boards and boot bags are bulky, and a party of six with full equipment often needs a super-midsize or heavy jet. Tell us what you are carrying when you enquire, and we will size the aircraft for the luggage as well as the passengers.
How early should I book a ski flight to Geneva?
For Christmas, New Year and February half term, several weeks ahead at least, and earlier for Saturday arrivals. Those weekends are the busiest of the year at Geneva, and both aircraft and slots sell out. Midweek flights and flights outside the school holidays can usually be arranged at a few days' notice.
Can I fly to Geneva and back in a day?
Yes, and it is one of our most common business trips. The aircraft waits on the ramp while you are in meetings, so the return leaves when you are ready rather than at a scheduled time. Farnborough to Geneva and back comfortably fits a working day with time on the ground in the city.
Do I go through passport control flying privately to Switzerland?
Yes. Switzerland is in the Schengen Area and the UK is not, so passengers clear border control on arrival, usually in the business aviation terminal. UK and other non-EU travellers register once under the EU Entry/Exit System, which records fingerprints and a photograph. ETIAS, the EU's pre-travel authorisation, is due to start in the final quarter of 2026, and we confirm what applies when you book.
Can a private flight to Geneva be carbon offset?
Yes. Every flight we arrange, including any helicopter transfer, can be offset through our Carbon Responsible Programme, which combines Cool Earth rainforest protection, supported since 2009, with flight-specific verified offsets through 4AIR. Corporate clients receive the figures for each individual flight for ESG reporting.
